A YouTube online downloader saves YouTube videos or audio using only your web browser. EasyYTDown works this way: the downloading and processing happen on our server, and your device only receives the finished MP4 or MP3 file. All you need is a browser, such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Samsung Internet.
How to Use EasyYTDown
- Copy the YouTube URL: in a browser, copy the link from the address bar. In the YouTube app, tap Share → Copy link.
- Open EasyYTDown: go to easyytdown.com in any browser.
- Paste the URL into the input box, or tap the Paste button.
- Choose format and quality: MP4 (video) at 360p, 480p or 720p on the free plan, or 1080p on Pro. MP3 (audio) is also a Pro feature.
- Click Download Now: the server fetches and prepares the file. Short videos are usually quick; longer videos take proportionally longer.
- Save the file: when the result appears, tap the Download button. Keep the tab open until your browser starts saving the file.
Formats, Quality and Plans
| Format | Quality | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| MP4 video (H.264 + AAC) | 360p, 480p, 720p | Free: 5 downloads/day, no account |
| MP4 video (H.264 + AAC) | 1080p | Pro ($4.99/month) |
| MP3 audio | Highest VBR setting, limited by YouTube's source audio | Pro ($4.99/month) |
The free daily limit resets at 00:00 UTC. If the original video wasn't uploaded at the quality you picked, you get the best quality it has.
Why a Browser Tool Instead of an App?
Apps that download YouTube videos go against Google Play's and Apple's store policies, so they tend to be removed and then stop getting updates. Since YouTube changes regularly, an unmaintained downloader stops working. A browser tool is maintained on the server, so fixes apply without you updating anything, though a YouTube change can still break downloads until it's fixed. There are no app permissions to grant and nothing to install.
Where Does the File Go?
- iPhone/iPad (Safari): Files app → On My iPhone → Downloads. To move a video into Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video.
- Android (Chrome): your Downloads folder, reachable from the Files app (My Files on Samsung). Videos may also appear in your gallery app.
- Windows: your Downloads folder (
C:\Users\YourName\Downloads) unless you changed your browser's setting. - Mac: the Downloads folder in Finder.
On Android you can save straight to an SD card by changing Chrome's download location in its settings.
Other Devices
- Chromebook: use Chrome and follow the same steps. Files go to Downloads in the Files app.
- Amazon Fire tablet: use the Silk browser. Files go to the device's Downloads folder.
- Smart TV: TV browsers often can't save files. It's usually easier to download on a phone or computer, then play the file on the TV from a USB drive or by casting.
Troubleshooting
Nothing happens when I tap Download
On iPhone, check that Safari isn't blocking the download (Settings → Safari → Block Pop-ups can interfere). On Android, check Chrome's site settings for automatic downloads.
Processing takes a long time
Long videos take longer to prepare, and processing slows when the server is busy. If it seems stuck, refresh the page and try again.
The file won't play
MP4 files from EasyYTDown use H.264 video with AAC audio, which default players handle. On an older device, try VLC.
The quality is lower than I picked
The video wasn't uploaded at that quality. A video uploaded in 480p can't be downloaded in 720p.
What You Can and Can't Download
Public YouTube videos and Shorts work. Private videos, videos that require sign-in (such as age-restricted ones), members-only videos and paid YouTube content usually won't. EasyYTDown downloads one video at a time and only supports YouTube.
What Happens on the Server
When you submit a URL, our server reads the video ID, asks YouTube for the available streams, downloads the video and audio streams you selected, and merges them into one MP4 with ffmpeg (or converts the audio to MP3). Only the finished file is sent to your browser. That's why it needs no extension or special permission and behaves the same on an old Android phone as on a new laptop.
Privacy
To enforce the free daily limit and troubleshoot failures, we log each download request, including the video URL, your IP address, and basic browser information. Finished files are cached on our server for up to 7 days so repeat requests for the same video are faster. The site uses HTTPS. See our privacy policy for details.
A Quick No-Software Checklist
If you want to avoid installing anything, check any "online downloader" for these:
- Does it ask you to install a browser extension? (EasyYTDown doesn't.)
- Does the download button give you an .exe, .apk or .dmg instead of a video? If so, close the tab.
- Does it work the same in a private or incognito window?
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a limit on video length?
There's no fixed length limit, but very long videos take longer to process and are more likely to time out.
Can I download YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Paste the Shorts URL (youtube.com/shorts/...) like any other video. It downloads as a vertical MP4.
Do I need an account?
Not for the free plan. An account is only needed for Pro.
What is the difference between MP4 and MP3?
MP4 is a video file with sound; MP3 is audio only and much smaller. See MP4 vs MP3.
Is EasyYTDown free?
The free plan gives you 5 MP4 downloads per day at up to 720p, with no sign-up. Pro ($4.99/month) adds unlimited downloads, 1080p and MP3.
